“You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” unless, of course, you’re Mick Jagger celebrating his 81st birthday with heartfelt tributes from loved ones.
On Friday, July 26, the iconic Rolling Stones frontman marked another year, with his bandmates and longtime partner Melanie Hamrick posting personalized Instagram tributes to honor his special day.
Hamrick, who has been in a relationship with Jagger since 2014, shared a series of photos.
These included a stylish mirror selfie with Jagger, possibly taken before an Olympic event, a picture of Jagger holding their son Deveraux’s hand backstage at a concert, and a sweet candid shot of her adjusting Jagger’s tie as they prepared for a formal outing together.
The final photo showed the couple with their 7-year-old son Deveraux, all smiling during a vacation, with Deveraux sporting a backward Rolling Stones baseball cap.
“Happy Birthday babe!! We love you,” Hamrick captioned the post.
Jagger also received birthday wishes from the official Rolling Stones Instagram account, as well as shoutouts from bandmates Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards. The official page for the late Charlie Watts extended a “happy birthday” wish to Jagger as well.
“Join us in wishing @mickjagger a very happy birthday today!,” the Rolling Stones’ account wrote, alongside a photo of Jagger on stage. “Hope you have the best day, Mick!”
Ronnie Wood, 77, shared a throwback photo of himself and Jagger dressed in vibrant red outfits from years past, captioning it: “Wishing a very happy 81st birthday to Mick!”
Keith Richards, Jagger’s longtime songwriting partner, posted a black-and-white photo of the two smiling with a guitar on a diving board, writing, “Happy Birthday, Mick! Love, Keith.”
Jagger and Hamrick recently attended The Prelude to The Paris Games 2024 event on July 25, 2024, in Paris.
In addition to the birthday celebrations, Jagger has other reasons to be grateful as he steps into another year, including a new addition to the family.
On Tuesday, June 18, his daughter Georgia May Jagger, whom he shares with ex Jerry Hall, announced on Instagram that she is expecting her first child with skateboarder boyfriend Cambryan Sedlick.
“Patiently waiting for our new best friend @cambryans,” she wrote, sharing the baby news.
The Rolling Stones recently concluded their Hackney Diamonds tour, which began in Houston in April and wrapped up earlier this month with a final show in Ridgedale, MO. Jagger shared a video compilation of clips from the tour, set to their 2023 track “Whole Wide World.”
“Thanks so much to everyone that has come to see us on this tour, we had an absolute blast,” Jagger wrote. “See you soon!”
The band’s official account also expressed gratitude to fans, saying, “a huge thank you to everyone that has come to see a show!” and giving “special thanks to all the outstanding musicians that join the Stones onstage, plus every crew member that works so hard to make this happen.”
