Romance seems to be blossoming for Mary J. Blige. During her appearance on the Monday, September 23 episode of Sherri to promote the upcoming fourth and final season of Power Book II: Ghosts, the 53-year-old R&B legend reflected on moving past her divorce and embracing new love.

Blige discussed how her 2018 divorce from ex-husband Kendu Isaacs taught her the value of forgiveness.

She shared, “What I’ve learned is that forgiveness was for me,” as she explained to host Sherri Shepherd. She continued with a bold statement, “So excuse me when I say this, ‘The hell with them.’”

The singer elaborated further, explaining that she doesn’t hold onto feelings of bitterness. “I don’t like that ugly, bitter feeling ’cause that’s not mine. That belongs to you. You did what you did.

But I have to move on, and in order for me to feel good and to manifest all the good things in my life, I have to let go—for me. Not for you. Trust me, this is not for you, this is for me.”

As Blige expressed her desire to “walk in that joy” and embrace “newness,” Shepherd, 57, playfully asked if she was dating someone new. Blige coyly responded, “You know already Sherri, everybody knows. Yes.”

She confirmed that the relationship is going well, adding, “I feel good about me. I look good TO ME. I feel good TO ME. And so, I’m embracing me. So when you embrace you, everything is embracing you. When you want you, everything wants you. Everything good.”

She emphasized that the relationship is thriving because she no longer depends on others to make her feel good. “I’m not holding anybody accountable about making me feel good for me,” Blige noted.

Blige, who has always been transparent about her personal journey, also took time during the show to share some exciting career news.

She announced her For My Fans tour, which is set to kick off in January 2025. “If you are a Mary J. Blige fan, this is for you,” she said enthusiastically.
