Bachelor Nation’s Justin Glaze says he and Susie Evans are taking their romantic relationship “day by day.”
“We’re giving ourselves some time to figure out what’s best for us,” Glaze, 30, told on Monday, August 19, ahead of The Famously Average Golf Tournament hosted by iHeartRadio’s The Ben & Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast in Livermore, California.
Glaze mentioned that he and Evans, 30, remain “on the same page” amid ongoing speculation about their relationship status. “We are prioritizing each other and ourselves, and that’s really all there is to it,” he explained.
Although Evans and Glaze appeared on different seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, that didn’t prevent them from forming a connection.
(Evans was on Clayton Echard’s The Bachelor season 16 in 2022, while Glaze was the runner-up on Katie Thurston’s Bachelorette season in 2021.)
After meeting in 2022, Evans and Glaze developed a close friendship. Fans quickly speculated there was something more between them, though their relationship didn’t turn romantic until October 2023.
At first, the couple didn’t shy away from sharing details of their love life on social media, but they’ve since become more private, leading to questions about where they stand.
For instance, Glaze didn’t post a birthday tribute to Evans, who turned 30 on Monday. He assured that fans were “probably reading too much into it, as usual,” confirming they had talked.
“We’re good. She had a great birthday,” Glaze added. “People don’t always like it when relationships are handled privately, especially when you’re in the public eye, and there are certain expectations. I get that, but some people are just more private than others.”
Glaze emphasized that he and Evans “have the right to manage our relationship the way we see fit.”
Evans previously shared a similar sentiment when asked about the status of their relationship.
“You have to figure out the boundaries you’re comfortable with in the public eye, and there is this pressure to put yourself out there because it’s kind of my livelihood at this point,” she told at the Miss USA 2024 pageant earlier this month.
“I’ve realized it’s better to protect your privacy and peace than to meet other people’s expectations.”
Evans also noted that she’s been focusing on “setting boundaries and sticking to them.”
“I think that’s really important for all of us,” she continued. “It’s something I need to work on. Especially with my job being so public, that’s something I’m working on now and will continue to pursue.”
