JoJo Siwa has a new love interest! On Wednesday, August 14, the 21-year-old former Dance Moms star officially introduced her relationship with So You Think You Can Dance alum Dakayla Wilson by sharing a video on her Instagram Stories where the two are seen affectionately close.
In the video, which appears to be taken during a studio dance class, Wilson dances in front of a mirror before pausing to announce to the room, “So I have a girlfriend.” The room erupts in cheers as the couple shares a joyful hug, celebrating the moment together.
“Cats outta the bag,” Siwa captioned the video, tagging Wilson. Wilson also reposted the clip on her page, adding, “surprise shawtyyyyy”
In another Instagram Story, Siwa reposted a fan page’s post featuring side-by-side screenshots of her and Wilson hugging, with the caption, “I’m happy for them and I’m glad that they’re happy being with each other @itsjojosiwa.”
Following their relationship reveal, Siwa posted a photo of herself and Wilson holding hands outside, captioned, “Perfect day.” Wilson reposted the same photo, adding on her Instagram Story, “literally the most perfect day.”
While it’s unclear how long Siwa and Wilson have been dating, Siwa did confirm on social media that they spent the past weekend together for a dance class that Wilson was teaching.
“Girlfriend taught a dance class so I took a weekend off of being JoJo Siwa and became her All Star Assistant,” Siwa wrote in a TikTok video of herself dancing. ” @DAKAYLA WILSON broke my body in half for this but WORTH IT.”
Before this relationship, Siwa was dating TikTok star Avery Cyrus, with their relationship ending in December 2022 after three months.
Siwa announced their breakup in a TikTok video where she humorously said to her ex, “This is my sorry for breaking up with you present,” while holding a package of Silly Putty.
In the comments section, Siwa clarified that they split because “we decided that we are better off as friends!” She added, “We are both so young and still just trying to figure our stuff out.”
Earlier this year, Wilson sparked “showmance” rumors with her SYTYCD season 18 castmate Anthony Curley, though nothing seemed to develop after the season concluded.
Back in March, Siwa briefly discussed her dating life when asked about her relationship status. She described it as “messy,” jokingly adding, “Actually, I’m sure you wouldn’t like to know, but I’m sure you would like to know.”
In November 2023, Siwa had shared that she was taking advice from her Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test co-stars Tyler Cameron and Nick Viall. Viall had told her, “I can be an idiot with love until I’m 21, so I’ve got six more months.”
Discussing the challenges of dating while maintaining a busy work schedule, the “Karma” singer noted, “I’m a lover. I crave that. But it’s good, because I know when I’m in a relationship, I prioritize it, and sometimes a little too much and I cut out friends, cut out family, cut out career, and I only focus on relationships.”
