Anthony Edwards has enjoyed the support of his girlfriend, Shannon, throughout NBA journey.
In 2020, the social media influencer shared the first public photo of the couple on Instagram, and since then, she’s frequently been spotted courtside at Edwards’ games with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
On January 21, 2023, just a few days before Shannon’s 29th birthday, Edwards scored a season-high 44 points, including eight 3-pointers, in a victory over the Houston Rockets, dedicating the performance to her.
“My girlfriend’s birthday is in [a few] days, man. She’s going out of the country, so I had to put on a show for her,” Edwards told before blowing a kiss toward Shannon.
Recently, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter. Edwards left a Timberwolves game at halftime on March 2 to be with Shannon as she gave birth.
Shannon also has a son, Krue, whom she shares with rapper Chief Keef.
Now, Edwards’ life and career are being showcased in the Netflix docuseries Starting 5, which follows NBA players during the 2023-2024 season.
So, who is Anthony Edwards’ girlfriend? Here’s everything to know about Shannon and her relationship with the Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard.
In 2020, Edwards made significant strides both personally and professionally.
He was the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft and was later named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. That same year, he and Shannon made their relationship official on Instagram.
“Together forever, any problem you got, I got it,” Shannon captioned a photo of her and Edwards embracing.
Shannon, who has around 120,000 Instagram followers, often shares glimpses of her life, which regularly includes supporting Edwards at Timberwolves games in Minnesota.
After the final game of the 2023 season, Shannon posted several photos of herself and her son, Krue, sitting courtside, alluding to the Timberwolves’ upcoming playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
One image showed her wearing a navy-and-white jacket with “A. Edwards,” “Wolves,” and “Minnesota Basketball” on the back.
“Some [heroes] don’t wear capes, season 3! LA next,” Shannon wrote on Instagram.
Edwards has gone viral numerous times for his electrifying dunks and clutch shooting, and Shannon often shares her excitement both in person and online.
In January 2024, Edwards had one of his most viral moments when he threw an alley-oop off the backboard to himself for a two-handed slam dunk.
Shannon shared a video of the play in her Instagram Stories, writing, “OMG”.
She also traveled to Paris during the summer of 2024 to cheer Edwards on in the 2024 Olympics, where he helped Team USA win a gold medal while being the youngest member of the team.
After revealing they were expecting their first child together in December 2023, Shannon and Edwards hosted an extravagant baby shower in February 2024.
The event featured white and rose gold décor, balloons, two large tables, and rose gold macarons with their daughter’s initials, “AJE,” written on them.
Many of Edwards’ Timberwolves teammates, including Karl-Anthony Towns, Kyle Anderson, Jordan McLaughlin, and Luke Garza, attended the event. Videos showed Edwards and Shannon dancing and taking photos together.
“baby A.J.E is otw …,” Shannon shared on Instagram.
In March 2024, Edwards and Shannon welcomed their daughter. Edwards left a Timberwolves game at halftime to be there for the birth on March 2.
After the Timberwolves swept the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs the following month, Shannon shared a picture on Instagram of Edwards cuddling with their daughter at home.
“She was waiting on him to come home to do this,” Shannon wrote.
Shannon’s younger brother also celebrated the arrival of their baby girl on Instagram, posting, “Congrats to my Big Sis and Ant..!! My Niece is Officially Here and Healthy. I’m a UNC x2. This Celebration was definitely 1 for the books.! Can’t wait to meet ya baby girl AJE…!.”
In addition to her newborn daughter, Shannon is the mother of Krue Karter, her son with rapper Chief Keef.
She frequently posts about Krue on Instagram, where he has his own page. Shannon’s Instagram bio proudly states, “I just love being a mom.”
In the time that Shannon and Edwards have been together, Krue has taken after Edwards in some ways.
Edwards, who was a promising young football player before switching to basketball at age 9, seems to have inspired Krue’s multi-sport interests.
Shannon once shared a video of Krue hitting a game-winning buzzer-beater, similar to Edwards’ celebratory style.
After making the shot, Krue celebrated by running around the court and pounding his chest, just like Edwards often does.
She has also posted highlights of Krue’s flag football games, where he frequently outruns opponents.
In 2022, after Krue won his first football championship, Shannon expressed her pride in his achievements.
“WOW, what an accomplishment of many more to come, #1 in your league [and] you were part of that greatness,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I’m so proud of you KrüeKrüe, I love you before I met you [and] I’ll always love you unconditionally until my last [breath].
You know that! From excelling in school, star student every week, and the best reader in your class. I’m soooo proud of you. #1sttrophy#1styearoffootball.”
