Antonio Brown, the former NFL star wide receiver, is facing financial difficulties once again. He has reportedly filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, owing nearly $3 million to eight different creditors.

He submitted the bankruptcy paperwork on May 15 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of Florida.

His media company, CTESPN Network, confirmed the bankruptcy filing in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

This development adds to Brown’s ongoing legal and financial issues since stepping away from the NFL.

“NFL legend Antonio Brown has filed bankruptcy today,” the post read. “He will be a first ballot hall of famer in 2027. He will be releasing new music this summer. He is also the founder of the most trusted source in all of sports. The generational run continues.”

Antonio Brown’s financial situation has taken a significant downturn, despite having earned around $88 million during his 12-year NFL career.

He claims to have less than $50,000 in assets but currently owes nearly $3 million to various creditors.

These debts include money owed to a credit card company, a marketing firm, a law firm, and three six-figure civil judgments that he is unable to pay.

One of the most significant debts is $1.2 million owed to a moving truck driver who sued Brown for assault and battery following a 2020 incident.

Brown’s financial and legal troubles are not new. He has a history of accusations related to not paying his bills.

In March 2023, he became part of the ownership group for the Albany Empire, a team in the National Arena League (NAL). However, this venture was short-lived.

The NAL terminated the franchise on June 15, 2023, just three months after Brown’s involvement, citing his failure to pay league dues and fines, despite the team’s recent success in winning back-to-back NAL titles.

Antonio Brown, who earned $88 million over his 12-year NFL career, spent most of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he earned seven Pro Bowl selections.

However, his career took a downturn when he was traded to the Oakland Raiders in 2019.

His tenure with the Raiders was short-lived due to his disruptive behavior, including a notable altercation with then-Raiders GM Mike Mayock after being fined for missing practices, which led to his release before he played a game.

Brown then signed with the New England Patriots, but his stay there was also brief. He was released after just two weeks following allegations of sexual misconduct and accusations of sending threatening texts to his accuser.

Despite catching a touchdown in a Week 2 victory over Miami, the Patriots decided to part ways with him amid the growing controversy.

After being released by the Patriots, Antonio Brown did not play for the rest of the 2019 NFL season.

He was suspended for the beginning of the 2020 season due to his previous behavior but joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won a Super Bowl with Tom Brady that year.

Brown’s final appearance in the NFL came during Week 17 of the 2021 season.

In that game, he infamously refused to re-enter the game for the Buccaneers, took off his jersey and shoulder pads, and left the field mid-game. This incident marked the end of his NFL career.
