Amy Andrews, a morning anchor for Fox 2 Detroit, shared on social media that she has been off the air recently to address her mental health.

She opened up about the challenges she’s facing and the importance of taking time to focus on her well-being.

Amy Andrews’ transparency in discussing her mental health struggles is a reminder of the importance of self-care and seeking help when needed. Her fans and colleagues have expressed support and well wishes for her recovery.

“My severe depression and anxiety have returned in full force. I’ve stepped away from the anchor desk temporarily to battle with all I have so I can come back and spend my mornings with you. Much love always…,” the popular Detroit TV journalist revealed on X.

In June 2022, Amy Andrews revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that she was returning to work after being off the air for several months due to severe depression and anxiety.

She expressed gratitude to everyone who supported her during that challenging time, acknowledging the importance of having a strong support system.

Amy Andrews’ openness about her mental health journey has been an inspiration to many, reinforcing the message that it’s okay to seek help and prioritize mental well-being.

“I finally had to take a step back and address it so I could move forward. We never know what others are dealing with so always try to be kind and don’t ever be ashamed to admit that you may need a little help,” she tweeted, as reported.

In 2019, Amy Andrews took part in a charity walk at Detroit’s riverfront to raise awareness for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

During the event, she spoke to the crowd about her late friend and colleague Jessica Starr, who tragically died by suicide in 2018.

Amy Andrews has since been a passionate advocate for mental health and suicide prevention.

On July 19 of this year, the AFSP’s Michigan Chapter recognized Andrews on X for her ongoing commitment to their cause.

They praised her as:

“A longtime supporter of ours, using her platform to elevate our cause and bring hope to so many. Thank you, Amy, for being such a fierce mental health warrior!”

Andrews’ dedication to mental health advocacy continues to make a significant impact, both within her community and beyond.

Amy Andrews is actively involved in several charitable causes, including Gleaners Community Food Bank, C.A.T.C.H. Children’s Charity, Habitat for Humanity, and the American Heart Association, among others.

Her commitment to giving back to the community extends beyond her role as a journalist, as she frequently engages in efforts to support various organizations and initiatives.

Andrews has a strong educational background, having studied at Indiana University, Oakland University, and the Specs Howard School of Media Arts.

Before joining Fox 2 Detroit in 2011, she gained experience working at television stations in Colorado, Nevada, California, and the Flint and Saginaw markets.

Her extensive career and dedication to both her profession and community service have made her a well-respected figure in the Detroit area.
