Tina Knowles and Richard Lawson Divorce Settlement Reached After Deciding to Separate Last Summer

Tina Knowles and Richard Lawson have finalized their divorce settlement, nearly 13 months after Knowles initially filed for divorce in July 2023.

Knowles, 70, the mother of music superstars Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, filed for divorce from the 77-year-old actor on July 26, 2023, in the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, after eight years of marriage.

The former couple, who were married on a yacht in Newport Beach, California, on April 12, 2015, cited “irreconcilable differences” in the settlement.

The document stated that the “irremediable breakdown of the marriage [made] it impossible for the parties to live together as husband and wife.”

Both parties waived their right to spousal support. However, Knowles agreed to make a one-time payment of $300,000 to Lawson.

This amount represents “a full and complete settlement of all interest that Respondent has acquired during marriage in the community property of the parties as well as his obligation on any and all community debts.”

Lawson was awarded a 2021 Cadillac Escalade, the right to all earnings acquired since their separation, funds from Richard Lawson Studios Inc., his SAG pension plan, royalties, creative works produced during their marriage, and personal belongings, including clothing and jewelry.

Knowles was awarded ownership of a property in Los Angeles, another property in Texas, and “all furniture, furnishings, appliances, artwork, and personal effects” at both locations.

Like Lawson, she retains the right to all earnings acquired since their separation and creative works produced during their marriage.

Additionally, the fashion designer will keep a 2018 Tesla, a 2020 Bentley, the Matriarch Book deal with Penguin Random House, and a 1 percent interest in Kirby Beauty Management LLC.

As part of the settlement, the former couple agreed to a “non-disparagement agreement.”

They “acknowledge their intent to resolve all issues in their dissolution amicably” and agreed to mutually approve any public statements about their divorce, as well as to refrain from speaking negatively about their children, grandchildren, and their spouses.
