Netflix Cancels Reality Show ‘Buying Beverly Hills’ After Two Seasons

Netflix has canceled Buying Beverly Hills after two seasons, with the real estate reality show not returning for a third season on Friday, August 16.

Buying Beverly Hills centered on Mauricio Umansky and his team at The Agency, a firm known for its high-end real estate transactions.

The Agency’s staff included Umansky’s daughters, Farrah Brittany, 35, and Alexia Umansky, 27, which introduced a layer of family drama similar to that in Succession.

Umansky, 54, was also married to Kyle Richards, a star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and their marital issues were featured on the show.

Season 2 of Buying Beverly Hills prominently featured the couple’s separation. In intense scenes, Umansky and Richards sat down with their children to announce their decision to part ways.

(Umansky and Richards have three daughters: Alexia, Sophia, 24, and Portia, 16, while Richards shares daughter Farrah with her ex-husband Guraish Aldjufrie.)

“We wanted to have this conversation when we were all together, for obvious reasons,” Richards, 55, said to her family. “I’m really sorry, you guys.”

Umansky shared that they had attempted to save their relationship before deciding to separate.

“I had an amazing 26 years with your mom. An amazing 26 years. I wanted to do everything possible to just save it. So, you know, your mom came and she talked to me and she said, ‘I think I need space,’” Umansky told his daughters. “I need to have, you know, some time and a clear head.”

During the emotional scenes, Sophia expressed how rapidly their lives had changed, saying: “We only even found out there were any issues just a few months ago, and now it’s just, like, things change so quickly.”

In July 2023, it was first reported that Umansky and Richards had separated, a development that surprised their daughters, who were on vacation in Aspen when they saw the news.

“I first found out about the article when my family and I were paddle boarding in Aspen, and I saw my mom look at her phone and her face shift, with panic coming over her,” Alexia recalled. “Then my dad came out and was overwhelmed with phone calls and text messages.”

Although Buying Beverly Hills will not continue on Netflix, the streaming service still offers a range of other real estate reality shows, including Selling Sunset, Selling the OC, and Owning Manhattan.
