Nancy Pelosi is an American politician known for being the first woman to serve as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, a position she held from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023.
Her estimated net worth ranges from $43 million to $202 million, depending on the value of various assets, including real estate and stock investments. Her most recent wealth disclosure indicates a net worth of around $120 million.
Political Career
Nancy Pelosi began her political career in the 1960s as an intern for Senator Daniel Brewster (D-Maryland). After moving to San Francisco, she became close to Congressman Phillip Burton of the 5th District.
In 1976, she was elected as a Democratic National Committee member from California, a role she held until 1996.
Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, she also served in various leadership positions within the Democratic Party, including as the finance chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
After Phillip Burton passed away in 1983, his wife, Sala Burton, succeeded him and later designated Nancy Pelosi as her successor when she decided not to run for re-election. This endorsement helped secure support from Burton’s previous constituents.
Following Sala’s death just a month into her second term, Pelosi won the special election and took office as the congresswoman for the 5th District in June 1987.
She represented the 5th District until 1993, then the 8th District from 1993 to 2013, the 12th District from 2013 to 2023, and has represented the 11th District since 2023.
