Kevin Costner Divorces From Wife Christine Baumgartner: Things Turned Messy

Kevin Costner and his ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, finalized their divorce after reaching an amicable settlement in September regarding custody of their three children and other divorce issues. Christine had requested a court to waive the co-parenting course requirement.

A spokesperson for Kevin Costner confirmed that both parties mutually agreed on the terms of the divorce.

Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce from Kevin Costner on May 1, 2023, after 18 years of marriage, citing their separation date as April 11. The couple has three children: two sons, Cayden (16) and Hayes (15), and a daughter, Grace (13).

A spokesperson for Kevin expressed his regret when Christine filed for divorce.

“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,” the spokesperson said.

“We ask that his, Christine’s, and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”

Before finalizing their divorce in September, Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner had multiple court appearances to resolve key issues, including the timeline for Christine’s move out of their Santa Barbara estate and the amount of child support Kevin, known for his role in Field of Dreams, would pay.

Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner first crossed paths at a golf course in 1996, where he was practicing for his film Tin Cup.

They reconnected at a restaurant in 1998, began dating, and got married in 2004 at Costner’s 160-acre ranch, The Dunbar, in Aspen, Colorado.

This was Costner’s second marriage; he was previously married to Cindy Silva for 16 years before their 1994 divorce, and they have three grown children.

After his split from Silva, Costner had a brief romance with Bridget Rooney, with whom he shares a 27-year-old son, Liam.
