Karen Gillan received the Artistic Achievement in Independent Film Award for her directorial debut, “The Party’s Just Beginning,” during the 27th Philadelphia Film Festival Closing Night Awards Ceremony on Friday, October 26, in Pennsylvania.

The actress opted for a striking outfit from the Vera Wang Collection Fall 2018. She wore a black power mesh mannequin dress featuring structured cups, armor sleeves, and a French tulle overskirt, embodying plenty of artistic flair.

Karen Gillan, born on November 28, 1987, is a Scottish actress and filmmaker. She gained fame as Amy Pond in the TV series “Doctor Who” 2010–2013), earning several awards.

Her early film roles include “Outcast” (2010) and “Not Another Happy Ending” (2013). She also appeared on stage in John Osborne’s play “Inadmissible Evidence” (2011).

Karen Gillan transitioned to Hollywood with the horror film “Oculus” (2013), her first U.S. commercial success, and starred in the ABC sitcom “Selfie” (2014).

She gained international stardom as Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2014–2023) and played Ruby Roundhouse in the “Jumanji” films (2017, 2019). Gillan received critical acclaim for writing, directing, and starring in “The Party’s Just Beginning” (2018).

She also starred in “Gunpowder Milkshake” (2021), “Dual” (2022), and “Late Bloomers” (2023), and returned to British TV in “Douglas Is Cancelled” (2024).
