With the unresolved issues surrounding the film It Ends With Us, there are now talks of a potential sequel for Colleen Hoover fans.
Justin Baldoni, who holds the rights to Hoover’s It Starts With Us—the 2022 sequel to her 2016 novel It Ends With Us—has indicated that he might not direct a follow-up film.
When asked on August 6, 2024, about the possibility of directing a sequel, Baldoni suggested that Blake Lively might be better suited for the role.
“I think there are better people for that one,” he said. “I think Blake Lively is ready to direct. That’s what I think.”
Baldoni’s remark has sparked speculation about potential tension between him and Lively. It has since reported an intense “creative struggle” between them.
“[Justin] was made to feel that his vision wasn’t as important as Blake’s, and it stifled the creativity on set,” a source revealed to Us exclusively earlier this month.
Baldoni directed and starred as Ryle Kincaid in the film, while Lively executive produced and starred as Lily Bloom.
The film It Ends With Us portrays Lily, a flower shop owner, who finds herself in an abusive relationship with Ryle, a neurosurgeon with a troubled past.
When Atlas, a homeless man from Lily’s past, reappears, it complicates her relationship with Ryle.
