Jayam Ravi has confirmed that he and Aarti Ravi have separated. The rumours began circulating in June when Aarti Ravi removed all photos of Jayam Ravi from her Instagram account.
Tamil actor, Jayam Ravi has announced on social media that he and his wife, Aarti Ravi, are divorcing after 15 years of marriage. They have two sons together. The actor confirmed the split on Monday, attributing it to “personal reasons” following months of speculation.
He posted two notes on X (formerly Twitter), captioning them,
“Grateful for your love and understanding. Jayam Ravi.”
In his announcement, Jayam Ravi began his note by reflecting on life as a journey with various chapters. He expressed that, with a ‘heavy heart,’ he needed to share something personal, which was the news of his divorce from Aarti Ravi. He added,
“After much thought and discussions, I have taken the difficult decision to proceed with the dissolution of my marriage with Aarti. This decision was not made out of haste and it stems from personal reasons that I believe are in the best interests of everyone involved.”
Ravi also requested privacy, asking people not to make assumptions about his marriage,
“In light of this, I hereby kindly request all of you to respect our privacy as well as that of our family members during this difficult time and appeal to all of you to refrain from making any assumptions, rumors or allegations in this regard and let the matter remain private.”
Jayam Ravi concluded his note by emphasizing that his priority is to bring ‘joy and entertainment’ to people. He also expressed gratitude to his fans for their support throughout his career.
In June, just days after their 15th wedding anniversary on June 4, Aarti Ravi removed all her photos with Jayam Ravi from her Instagram account. For those who may not know, Aarti is the daughter of well-known television producer Sujatha Vijayakumar.
Despite being private about their relationship since their marriage in 2009, the couple’s split came as a shock to fans.
After Aarti deleted all photos with Jayam Ravi, she later shared a picture celebrating his 2003 film Jayam, which seemed to address the rumors.
Jayam Ravi was recently seen in Ponniyin Selvan: II, Iraivan, and Siren. He is set to appear in upcoming films Brother and Kadhalika Neramillai.
