Toby Keith, the renowned country music star, passed away on February 5, 2024, at the age of 62 due to stomach cancer.
He had publicly disclosed his diagnosis of gastric cancer in June 2022 through a blog post, shedding light on his battle with the disease.
“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” the 60-year-old musician wrote in June 2022 in a statement on Twitter and Instagram.
“I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax.”
Toby Keith, a native of Oklahoma, was celebrated for hits like “Beer for My Horses” and “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue (The Angry American).”
He was also a dedicated supporter of pediatric cancer patients and their families.
His diagnosis of stomach cancer, which constitutes about 1.5% of new cancer cases in the U.S. annually, highlights a significant health issue.
This year, approximately 26,380 new cases of stomach cancer are expected, with men being at a higher risk than women.
