Nikki Grahame gained fame on the seventh series of Big Brother in 2006, where she finished in fifth place. Her memorable personality and catchphrases made her a standout contestant, leading to widespread recognition. She also received a National Television Award for her appearance on the show.
Nikki Grahame struggled with anorexia nervosa throughout her life, which began in her childhood.
Her mother, Susan Grahame, shared on Loose Women that she first noticed signs of Nikki’s eating disorder when Nikki was about seven and a half years old.
Susan described noticing changes in Nikki’s expression, which initially alerted her to the problem.
“She just became terribly sad and I couldn’t understand what was going on and then she just [became] smaller and the school was saying that she was struggling in class because she couldn’t concentrate on what was happening. That was when the battle began.”
In March 2021, Nikki Grahame’s family reported that she had relapsed, feeling “weak” and “struggling on a day-to-day basis.”
She checked into a private hospital in April 2021 and was discharged on April 8.
Tragically, the following day, she was found dead in her flat, having succumbed to complications related to anorexia nervosa at the age of 38.
