Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes Breakup, The Former Couple Continues to Meet

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes’ recent appearance together at the Copa América finals reignited rumors that the former couple, who briefly rekindled their romance last year, might be considering another go at their relationship.

However, sources have made it clear that the two singers are now just friends.

A source informed that Cabello and Mendes did not plan to attend the Miami sporting event together. “They were there coincidentally,” the source explained. “She actually took her dad as her date.”

An insider further confirmed, “Shawn and Camila are not dating. They are just friends.”

The source added that although the former couple may go months without speaking, they remain “always friendly.” When they reconnect, it’s as if “no time has passed.”

During her March interview on Call Her Daddy, Cabello addressed their brief reconciliation in 2023.

Reflecting on why it happened, she explained, “It’s crazy because I’m kind of impulsive in that way. If I feel it, I say it.

I would rather say it and see what happens and then wake up the next day and find out that it’s been heavily documented. I opted for that route. It is what it is. It was a fun time; it was a fun moment.”

“I will always care about him and love him. He’s such a good person,” she continued. “I’m lucky ’cause some people have exes who are awful, and he is not. He’s a really kind, good person.”

Regarding their second breakup, Cabello added, “It wasn’t even like a decision. I think you’re just kind of like, ‘Yeah, this doesn’t really… it’s not a fit—it doesn’t feel right.’

Luckily, I was in a place in my life where… it took us both less time to be like, ‘This doesn’t feel right, and we don’t really need to try so hard to make it work. It’s all good, let’s move on.’”

Mendes and Cabello originally dated for over two years, from the summer of 2019 to November 2021.

When they first broke up, they released a joint statement saying, “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever.

We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward.”
