Their relationship ended with one of the season’s most dramatic breakups, but “Love Island USA” star Rob Rausch has no intention of rekindling things with Andrea Carmona.
During an appearance on “Call Her Daddy” following his elimination, the 25-year-old shared his thoughts on his brief pairing with Andrea, who was dumped from the villa after they had been coupled up for just four days.
When host Alex Cooper asked Rob if he was interested in revisiting things with Andrea, he quickly responded, “I don’t,” before reconsidering his answer.
“I mean, I’ve been talking to her a little bit, but it’s not like— I think, I think once again, it’s probably better if we just kind of keep our distance for now,” he explained. “A lot has happened, and she’s been posting a lot.”
Rob admitted he’d “be lying” if he said that Andrea’s frequent social media activity since leaving the villa hadn’t bothered him. “I was kind of like, oh, it’s a lot of things to post about, which sounds really bad.”
“She did nothing wrong, literally did nothing wrong. And she was always kind,” Rob continued, before discussing how her exit shaped his expectations of her outside the villa.
“When she left, she was in a position where she could have said a lot of mean things and been like, ‘y’all are some bitches for doing this, blah blah blah.’ [She] did not say a word.
All she said was how much she cared about me and then left. I thought that was so good, and I thought she handled herself so well the whole time, which is why I was kind of surprised [that] she was posting a lot of stuff.”
He shared that he texted her after his elimination on the July 19 episode, and they later talked on FaceTime, but he hadn’t seen what she’d posted online at that time.
He has since, and told Cooper it’s “something that I did not see coming from her,” as she had been “very no drama in the villa.”
Before Andrea’s sudden departure, Rob said things were “going amazing” between them, and they were in the “honeymoon stage.”
“We were at that point where I was like, this girl could do no wrong. I was just like, so keen. Like I was just happy,” he reflected.
When the girls announced they had chosen to dump Andrea on the June 23 episode, Rob said he felt “mad” and “baffled” because they “had the strongest connection of most of the people in the villa at the time.”
He quickly offered to leave with her and later told Cooper he “100% regret[s]” making that promise. “I wish I wouldn’t have said it, but in that moment, that’s what I was doing. I was set on leaving.”
When asked if things would have been different had Andrea stayed in the villa, Rob said he wasn’t sure if it “would have worked out” between them. “It was really, really great. But like, it was still early days. We had a lot to learn about each other [still].”
After Andrea’s exit, Rob coupled up with Cassidy Laudano and then brought Daniela Ortiz Rivera back from Casa Amor.
He finished the season paired with Kassy Castillo, a fellow season 5 contestant, but they were dumped on the July 19 episode, just days before the finale.
