Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall recently made a humorous remark about his single life following his breakup with co-star girlfriend Tisha Merry.

Alan, known for his role as mechanic Tyrone Dobbs on the soap, first met Tisha in 2014.

Their relationship began in 2019 after she departed from her role as Steph Britton on ITV’s serial. News of their split surfaced in February after they had been together for five years.

On Monday, Alan posted on his Instagram Stories, sharing a picture of himself with his dog playfully humping his leg. He added a witty caption: “Apparently we’re not best friends. Most action I’ve had in a while ffs fml.”

In February, it was reported that the couple had started to grow apart and decided to end their relationship at the start of the year.

An insider explained, “Alan and Tisha had a lot of love for each other and shared similar interests, including socializing and traveling together.

However, they began to drift apart and felt overwhelmed by the pressure of maintaining their relationship.

They realized they were no longer on the same page, and ending things seemed like the best decision. Tisha moved out of Alan’s home about a month ago and is focusing on her work.”

Alan, 41, has portrayed the beloved Tyrone for 26 years, while Tisha, 30, now appears on the BBC series Doctors.

Alan was previously married to Hollyoaks actress Lucy-Jo Hudson, with whom he shares a daughter, Sienna, 10. They separated in 2018.

Tisha has removed all photos of Alan from her Instagram account, which previously featured their relationship, and Alan has also deleted most of her posts from his account.

Before their breakup, Alan underwent major knee surgery, which forced him to withdraw from I’m A Celebrity last year and take a break from Coronation Street.

He sustained the injury while exercising and had reconstructive anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery in November.

Alan shared a video of himself working hard during a rehabilitation session post-surgery, captioning it: “ACL rehab, 12 weeks, on track.” The surgery involved replacing the torn ACL with a tendon from another part of his leg.

He has recently returned to filming and posted a cheerful photo with his onscreen family, writing: “Family is the heart of the home. So happy to be together again & back to work.”

Alan revealed that he had undergone surgery in November, sharing a thumbs-up photo while lying in bed and noting that the surgery went “really well.”

He acknowledged that his recovery could take up to 12 months, stating: “ACL Reconstruction surgery. Well, on Friday I underwent ACL reconstruction surgery. I have been told the surgery went really well.

I know I have a long 9-12 months of rehabilitation ahead of me, but with the support of family and friends, I’m confident I’ll get there.

Thank you to the amazing staff at Oaklands xx … and also thanks to my very own nurse Ratched @missdrewmerry93. Any rehab tips or advice?”
