Ashley Park and Paul Forman may be costars on screen, but they’ve also shown undeniable chemistry off screen.
The two met while filming season 3 of Emily in Paris in 2021, when Forman was cast as Park’s love interest, Nicolas de Leon. (Park has portrayed Mindy Chen in the Netflix series since its October 2020 debut.)
While fans speculated about a possible romantic connection between Park and Forman, the duo didn’t confirm their relationship until January 2024.
Park shared a throwback black-and-white photo of the pair kissing on Instagram, along with another picture of Forman pushing her in a wheelchair while dressed up. Her caption hinted that their relationship had been ongoing longer than fans had initially thought.
“A year ago today. @peforman annual January heroism,” Park captioned the post, to which Forman replied, “The only heroism comes from having you by my side.”
Here’s a look at Park and Forman’s relationship timeline:
In January 2023, Park and Forman shared a sweet kiss while dressed to the nines. The Instagram post also showed Forman pushing Park in a wheelchair. The couple was spotted holding hands at The Hollywood Reporter’s Beauty Dinner.
In January 2024, after Park was hospitalized with tonsillitis that escalated into critical septic shock, she expressed gratitude to Forman for his unwavering support.
“Grateful most of all to [Forman] for being unconditionally by my side through all this.
You calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion—all while we were alone on the other side of the world far from those we know,” she wrote.
She shared a photo of Forman kissing her head while she was in bed, adding, “I love you, Paul. More than I can ever say.”
Forman responded to her heartfelt message with, “My love,” alongside a heart emoji. He also posted his own set of photos of the couple, captioning them, “By your side, no matter what.”
In February 2024, Forman celebrated their first public date by sharing photos of the two at London Fashion Week.
“First public date with @jw_anderson,” Forman wrote on Instagram. “Congratulations @jonathan.anderson on an incredible show.”
Park reminisced about the early days of her relationship with Forman, telling Cosmopolitan that while she initially found him “eye candy,” she was determined not to “date an actor again” when they first met on Emily in Paris.
“I was also like, ‘Oh my god, definitely not. I am past that. I would never fall for someone who looks that impeccable,’” she recalled. “So we were just friends. Very platonically, we would hang out.”
However, her costar Lily Collins “noticed the chemistry” between them and confronted her about it. “She was like, ‘Ashley, what is going on?’ And I replied, ‘Nothing. I told you I wasn’t dating actors,’” Park remembered.
Their relationship took a romantic turn after a trip to Poland, where Park watched Forman “play chess with these children who did not have a home.”
Reflecting on that moment, she humorously shared that she had to do a “loss-of-dignity tour,” admitting to Collins and others, “We are so in love.”
In August 2024, Park and Forman attended the premiere of Emily in Paris season 4 together at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theater on August 14.
Park dazzled in a sparkling, floor-length silver gown, her hair styled in a sleek, long ponytail. Forman looked dashing in an all-black suit paired with a sheer black floral shirt.
“Pink pony paris premiere w/ paul & park,” Park wrote on Instagram, sharing a fun video of the two getting ready for and attending the premiere.
