Dakota Johnson has firmly denied rumors that she and Chris Martin have broken up. “The reports are not true,” Johnson’s representative told Page Six on Friday, just hours after the rumors began circulating.
“They are happily together,” the rep confirmed.
The couple, who have been together for over seven years, had faced rumors of a split after a source told the Daily Mail that they had “accepted the relationship is over” and decided it was “best to move on.”
Speculation grew as Johnson, 34, had not been seen attending any shows during Coldplay’s European leg of their “Music of the Spheres” tour, which concludes on September 2 in Dublin, Ireland.
Additionally, Johnson had not been wearing her engagement ring from the 47-year-old singer throughout the summer.
Despite these rumors, Johnson was last seen supporting Martin at the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England, in June.
The couple began dating in 2017, three years after Martin’s split from his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, with whom he shares two children, Apple, 20, and Moses, 18.
While there were reports of a brief breakup in 2019, neither Martin nor Johnson ever confirmed it. A year later, they moved in together, sparking engagement rumors.
Johnson was spotted wearing a green engagement ring at the time, but an insider revealed in March that the couple has actually been engaged for six years.
Since the beginning of their relationship, Martin and Johnson have kept their romance largely private, though they have been open about their co-parenting relationship with Paltrow.
The trio, along with Paltrow’s partner, Brad Falchuk, have taken multiple trips together with the kids.
Johnson, who has embraced her role as a stepmother, shared her feelings with Bustle in March, stating, “I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart.”
Reflecting on her own family experiences, Johnson, whose mother Melanie Griffith was married to Antonio Banderas, added, “I grew up in a family that was so big, and I just believe in the saying, ‘Blood is thicker than water.’
The actual saying is, ‘The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb,’ which means that the connections with people you choose are more solid than the connections to the people you’re actually born to.”
Paltrow, 51, and Martin married in 2003 but separated in 2014.
