Get ready for a Frozen winter in 2027! The third installment of the beloved franchise is set to hit theaters on November 24, 2027, just in time for Thanksgiving.

This exciting news comes more than a year after Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel), Anna (Kristen Bell), and their friends would be returning for Frozen 3 during a call with investors in February 2023.

Fans have eagerly awaited updates, and this is the first significant news since Iger revealed in November 2023 that a Frozen 4 is also in development.

Both upcoming films will arrive over a decade after the original Frozen debuted in 2013, with the sequel, Frozen 2, following in 2019.

While details about the plot of Frozen 3 are still under wraps, Jennifer Lee, Disney Animation’s chief creative officer and co-director of the first two Frozen films, shared her excitement during the BFI London Film Festival last October.

She mentioned being “blown away” by what the filmmakers have created so far for the third installment.

Disney Upcoming Frozen III

“Every morning last week, they carved out space for me to work with the creative team, and I am blown away and so excited,” Lee said.

Josh Gad, who voices Olaf the snowman, also teased the upcoming developments in the franchise during a November appearance on The View.

Gad, 43, hinted at the exciting future of the series, saying, “I could share things with you, but Disney would literally escort me out of the building with armed security.

No, apparently there are two Frozen sequels in development right now—surprise! And I know Jennifer Lee, who wrote and directed the first two, is hard at work with the team right now. I’ve heard a little bit, and I can tell you guys, it’s pretty mind-blowing what’s coming. It’s pretty exciting.”

In addition to the films, the Frozen franchise has another exciting release on the horizon: the stage adaptation of Frozen is set to debut on Disney+ in 2025.

Disney recently announced on social media, “For the first time in forever… the hit musical FROZEN, filmed LIVE onstage featuring Samantha Barks as Elsa, is coming to #DisneyPlus in 2025! “
