Bob Saget passed away on January 9, 2022, at the age of 65. The cause of death was later determined to be head trauma, which was consistent with an accidental fall.
He was found unresponsive in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lake, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Saget was widely recognized for his role as Danny Tanner on “Full House” and his career in stand-up comedy.
“Now that we have the final conclusions from the authorities’ investigation, we felt it only proper that the fans hear those conclusions directly from us,” the family said.
“They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep. No drugs or alcohol were involved.”
The sheriff’s office confirmed that there were no signs of foul play in Bob Saget’s death.
Dr. Joshua Stephany, the chief medical examiner, reported that the death was an accident caused by blunt force trauma likely resulting from a fall.
At the time of his death, Saget was on tour and had performed at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, on January 8. He had expressed gratitude to his audience in a tweet earlier on January 9.
“In the weeks since Bob’s passing, we have been overwhelmed with the incredible outpouring of love from Bob’s fans, which has been a great comfort to us and for which we are eternally grateful,” his family said in its statement.
“As we continue to mourn together, we ask everyone to remember the love and laughter that Bob brought to this world, and the lessons he taught us all: to be kind to everyone, to let the people you love know you love them, and to face difficult times with hugs and laughter.”
In a post on Instagram marking a month since Mr. Saget’s death, Kelly Rizzo, his widow, said he “truly lived life to its fullest.”
“He had so many hardships over the years that he would always tell me ‘look, life is hard, we need to enjoy it as much as possible,’” Ms. Rizzo wrote.
