Cardi B is expecting her third child! The “I Like It” rapper, 31, announced her pregnancy on Instagram on Thursday, August 1. She shared the joyful news along with a series of photos where she is dressed in a red dress, proudly displaying her baby bump.
In her Instagram caption, Cardi expressed her gratitude and excitement: “With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power!”
She continued, “Reminded me that I can have it all! You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and can not wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do!”
Cardi concluded her post by acknowledging the challenges she faces and the strength she draws from her children, stating,
“It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns and test laying down, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”
The announcement of Cardi’s pregnancy comes shortly after she filed for divorce from her husband Offset, 32, after six years of marriage.
A representative for the “Bodak Yellow” rapper confirmed the news to PEOPLE, stating, “It’s not based on cheating rumors, but rather has been a long time coming.”
Cardi, 31, is reportedly seeking primary custody of their children, son Wave Set, 2½, and daughter Kulture Kiari, 6. The details of the divorce filing were not available at the time of the report.
Cardi B and Offset, seen attending the 65th GRAMMY Awards together, have had a tumultuous relationship, often marked by periods of separation and reconciliation. Offset is also the father of sons Jordan, 14, and Kody, 8, and daughter Kalea Marie, 9, from previous relationships.
In December 2023, Cardi confirmed on Instagram Live that she was single, although she admitted feeling uncertain about how to share the news publicly.
“I’ve been single for a minute now,” she said. “But I have been afraid … Not afraid, I just don’t know how to tell the world. But I feel like today has been, like, a sign.”
Cardi hinted at her split with Offset through her social media activities, including unfollowing him and posting cryptic messages.
She mentioned, “I don’t know if you guys have been getting clues from me, from my Lives, or from my Stories, when I put some certain music, or find my unfollowings.”
Despite their ups and downs, Cardi and Offset have continued to spend time together. They were seen together on New Year’s Eve, Offset directed Cardi’s March music video for “Like What (Freestyle),” and they attended a Knicks game in May.
In a Rolling Stone interview, Cardi described their relationship as “all right now,” emphasizing their strong friendship and support system.
Cardi also discussed her efforts to balance motherhood with her music career, including searching for a nanny and relying on her parents for support.
She acknowledged the challenges of being a mother of two and feeling overwhelmed, stating, “My kids come first. My kids come before anything.”
Cardi B and Offset, who married in September 2017, have had a relationship characterized by love, passion, and trust despite their challenges.
Cardi reflected on their bond in a 2020 ELLE interview, saying, “I do know that my relationship has a lot of drama and everything. But there’s a lot of love, there’s a lot of passion, there’s a lot of trust, there’s a big friendship. It’s always us against the world.”
Offset has also expressed his appreciation for their blended family. In an April 2022 interview with Essence, he shared his gratitude for having all his children together and praised Cardi for treating them as her own, saying,
“It’s a blessing to be able to have them all together, and to have a wife who’s open and treats them as if they’re her kids. It could be an issue, but I don’t have to go through that, and that’s beautiful.”
